Golf Vacations

If spending sunny, relaxing days on a picturesque fairway is your idea of a great vacation, read on. Taking a golf vacation can be a wonderful way to explore the world and work on your game. There are packages and resorts available for every budget and skill level.

Planning the Trip

For information on courses, visit Golf.com, Golf Magazine's directory of courses, resorts and clubs. Be sure to check out their list of the Top 100 Courses in the World.

Want someone to chart the course for you? The following companies specialize in golf vacations:
  • Golf Destinations
Offers both U.S. and international guides to some of the worlds best resorts. Look for reviews, instruction and resorts.

  • Resort Golf Vacations
An informative, extensive planner featuring resorts in the United States, Mexico and the Caribbean. The searchable database provides current rates, resort amenities and golf course statistics to help you choose a destination.

  • SGH Golf
Specializes in golf tours to Scotland, Ireland, Spain and England. They also arrange trips for fans to attend major golf tournaments.

Improving Your Game

If you are looking to improve your game, a vacation at a golf school might be the right choice.

The U.S. Schools of Golf, a well-respected teaching network of schools, has 42 locations in 16 states. Their site describes packages available at many locations. Learning Vacations has golf schools in Florida, Arizona, South Carolina, and New York. For those who only want the best, plan a trip to the Arnold Palmer Golf Academy. Palmer isn't one of the instructors, but he's hand-picked the instructors who will help you master fundamentals of the game. The academy has three sites - two in Florida and one in Texas.

For more information on educational golf trips, see the ShawGuide to Golf Schools and Camps. This wonderful resource features school reviews, a calendar of upcoming events at schools and a list of golf camps for kids.

Popular Destinations

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is one of the country's most famous spots for great golfing, with over 100 championship golf courses. Beach Vacations and Myrtle Beach Golf & Vacations offer a variety of complete tour packages.

Pebble Beach on the Northern California coast has been called the most beautiful golf course in the world. Visit their Web site to learn more about vacationing at this luxurious resort.
